So I guess there is something I don’t get. Some random guy on the street insults you, calls you a ‘jackass’ lets say. What do you do? Why do you do it? How do you react?

I attack it logically. What grounds does he have to call me a jackass? Did I act like a jackass (it’s happened before), did I do something cruel or horrible? Do I take offense to the remark?

Generally no; I don’t because I have no reason to. The remark probably isn’t backed up by any real facts. It’s an opinion. Opinions can still hurt though, but I don’t see why an opinon from some random guy on the street really matters.

Opinons are like assholes, everybody has one.

If someone I respect makes a comment like ‘you are a jackass’, I take it much more seriously. I respect this person for a reason; I tend to value their opinions and arguements, even negative ones like this one.

So I find it strange when people get angry so easily from random comments. Why do you care what some random passerby thinks? Why do you care what I think? You don’t know me.

Taking offense from every little remark is draining. There are a lot more of everyone else then there are of you, so you need to focus your energy on thoughts and opinions that matter.
